Congratulations to Aberdonian Marius Coste

  • Submitted by: Tess White, North East Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 20 January 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-02836

That the Parliament warmly congratulates Aberdonian, Marius Coste, for raising more than £6,500, in 2021, for mental health charity SAMH; understands that Marius made a commitment at the start of 2021 to run 36 km a-week for his mental health after going through a very difficult year; further understands that he started to raise money for SAMH after learning of the fundraising difficulties facing charities because of the COVID-19 pandemic; notes that he initially set a fundraising target of £250, which he has since far exceeded; recognises that Marius ran more than 2,500 km over the course of the year, which is an incredible achievement after he was hit by a car several years ago, which resulted in him breaking his right leg in three places and preventing him from walking for many months; commends Marius for sharing his experiences with mental health to provide comfort and support to others who may be experiencing something similar, especially during the COVID-19 pandemic; thanks all those supporters who donated to the fundraising campaign, and wishes Marius and his family all the very best.
