  • Submitted by: Dr. Sandesh Gulhane, Glasgow, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 18 January 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-02817

That the Parliament congratulates Michael Shanks for the unique accomplishment of running all 6,000 streets and lanes of his home city of Glasgow; understands that Michael started the challenge to make use of the daily exercise hours during the first COVID-19 lockdown and has continued running over the past two years; recognises that Michael has run a total of more than 2,300 km, while exploring the streets of the city and gathering information from local residents, and finished the last run of his challenge in the city centre’s George Square, where he was met by family and friends, and welcomes Michael’s intention to write a book on the social history of Glasgow using the information gathered on his runs.
