  • Submitted by: Stuart McMillan, Greenock and Inverclyde, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 07 January 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-02725

That the Parliament congratulates West College Scotland’s Greenock campus on receiving the Digital Diversity Award at the recent Herald Digital Transformation Awards 2021, in recognition of the work undertaken by the digital strategy group to improve students’ access to digital learning; understands that the strategy group, made up of volunteer support staff, was set up before the COVID-19 pandemic but had to accelerate its efforts when the pandemic started, aiming to put infrastructure and training in place to ensure that no student was left behind during the shift to online learning; recognises that the college has delivered over 100 digital training sessions to staff, students, parents and guardians to ensure engagement and support as far as possible, and that over 5,000 digital devices have been provided to students, including with Wi-Fi to enable connectivity; commends West College Scotland staff across all three of its campuses for their commitment to supporting students, and wishes staff and students all the best going forward.
