Ayr Brewing Company’s Porter Named Beer of the Year

  • Submitted by: Sharon Dowey, South Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 07 January 2022
  • Motion reference: S6M-02711

That the Parliament congratulates Ayr Brewing Company on its Rabbie’s Porter beer being awarded Beer of the Year; notes that the company brewed its first ales in 2009 and, in a short space of time, gained numerous awards at both a national and local level; further notes that it is currently producing approximately 60 casks of ale a week to supply pubs across the UK; acknowledges that this award followed a vote by the awarding body, Ayrshire and Wigtownshire for Real Ale; understands that the company started a free local delivery service for most of Ayrshire, which has kept business thriving during the COVID-19 pandemic, and wishes Ayr Brewing Company well as it continues to succeed in the brewing industry.
