  • Submitted by: Stuart McMillan, Greenock and Inverclyde, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 20 December 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-02610

That the Parliament notes the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) UK’s Don’t Drink and Drown campaign, which ran from 6 to 12 December 2021, to encourage smart decision-making while intoxicated around water; further notes that an average of 73 people lose their lives each year in the UK to substance-related drowning, which accounts for over 20% of the annual accidental drowning fatalities; commends the RLSS for its efforts to highlight the risks associated with entering water while under the influence, and hopes that this will help prevent substance-related drowning in the UK.
