UK Government Invests in Green Innovation in Edinburgh

  • Submitted by: Sue Webber, Lothian, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 16 December 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-02549

That the Parliament congratulates the Edinburgh-based companies, Act Blade Ltd, Nova Innovation Ltd and Vert Rotors, on being awarded funding of £416,880, £799,474 and £344,760 by the UK Government, which it considers is investing in green innovation in Edinburgh; understands that Act Blade will develop a new type of wind turbine blade, Nova Innovation will help accelerate the development of tidal energy, and Vert Rotors will be developing low-carbon home heating technology; further understands that over £116 million in new government funding will boost green innovation across the UK, with the funding seeing projects across the country develop new technologies that increase energy efficiency in homes and buildings, reduce carbon emissions, boost the UK’s energy security and provide cleaner ways to generate power and heat, and considers that the investment will put British business at the forefront of green innovation, helping to bring green jobs and investment to Scotland.
