Orcadian Singer-songwriter Awarded Best Vocalist at Scottish Jazz Awards

That the Parliament congratulates Marianne McGregor, an Orcadian singer-songwriter, on being awarded the Best Vocalist award at the Scottish Jazz Awards 2021; recognises Marianne as a prominent new voice in the Scottish jazz scene, who was awarded the Rising Star award at the Scottish Jazz Awards 2019; understands that, since Marianne released her debut album, Good Morning Warning, in 2020, she has released a second album, Standards, and an original new single, Paint It Gold, this year; notes that Marianne has been widely acknowledged for her voice and song writing ability by BBC Music Introducing, Glasgow Jazz Festival, Celtic Connections, ITV and Glasgow Live, and has several international performances under her belt with performances in Amsterdam, New York and a performance for the British Embassy in Cuba representing UK jazz; believes that Marianne is another fine example of the vibrant, talented music scene in Orkney, and wishes her all the very best for future success.
