National Lottery Awards for All Scotland Funding for Erskine Community Garden

  • Submitted by: Natalie Don, Renfrewshire North and West, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 09 December 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-02470

That the Parliament congratulates Erskine Community Garden on being awarded £2,084 from the National Lottery Awards for All Scotland; understands that the funding will be used to purchase gardening tools for the project; believes that since its launch in 2018 the garden has flourished into a beautiful area with something for everyone, including an eight-seater picnic benches for teenagers, a stick store for dogs, a vegetable patch, a labyrinth and a sensory area that is being created for children’s play; appreciates that the bunting decorating trees and benches alongside the garden’s path were donated by members of the local community; notes that the garden hosts a range of organised activities, including meditation sessions, as part of mental health support and that local groups, such as a children’s garden club, use the space to entertain and to educate young people about the outdoors and nature, and wishes volunteers Heather Clissett, Chrissie Johnson and Sylvia Sneider well with their ongoing inspirational efforts to develop Erskine Community Garden as a safe, inclusive, welcoming and peaceful environment for all.
