Solidarity with Striking UCU Staff at the University of Glasgow and Others Across the Country

  • Submitted by: Pam Duncan-Glancy, Glasgow, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 09 December 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-02433

That the Parliament recognises and supports staff at the University of Glasgow, and across the country, who are currently striking to protest against casualisation, pay cuts, cuts to pensions, unsustainable workloads, and gender, disability, and BAME pay inequalities; acknowledges what it sees as the hard work of the University and College Union Scotland in organising the strike; considers that the staff do incredible work and that this deserves to be recognised fairly, through proper pay, conditions and pensions, and encourages universities, the Universities and Colleges Employers Association, and the Universities Superannuation Scheme to resolve these disputes as soon as possible, as this is, it believes, in the best interests of staff and students.
