Glasgow to Host 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships

That the Parliament welcomes the announcement that the 2024 World Athletics Indoor Championships will be hosted by Glasgow at the Emirates Arena; notes that this event will take place five years after the city successfully hosted the European Athletics Indoor Championships in 2019; acknowledges the efforts of the event partners, Glasgow Life, Event Scotland, UK Sport and UK Athletics for putting together the successful bid; believes that this event should be a source of inspiration to the next generation of athletes across Scotland; considers the event to be an ideal opportunity to promote and improve participation in grassroots athletics across Scotland; recognises what it sees as the benefits to Glasgow, and Scotland more widely, from hosting such a prestigious event, and wishes the organisers every success.
