  • Submitted by: Brian Whittle, South Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 06 December 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-02387

That the Parliament congratulates Ayrshire Sportsability and RNIB Scotland for winning the Volunteer Diversity Award at this year’s Paths for All Annual Volunteer Awards; understands that Ayrshire Sportsability, which started a walking group with RNIB Scotland in April 2021, brings together 10 people every Tuesday, alongside two guide dogs for an organised walk; understands that the initiative has been picked-up by other groups around the country with Paths for All offering a Walk Leader training programme, which allows people with visual impairments to become walk leaders and lead their own walks with support from RNIB Scotland; recognises the benefits of regular physical activity for physical and mental wellbeing; applauds these organisations for their efforts to promote physical activity for all throughout Ayrshire and across Scotland, and wishes the project continued success.
