Ullapool Sea Wall
- Submitted by: Ariane Burgess, Highlands and Islands, Scottish Green Party.
- Date lodged: Wednesday, 17 November 2021
- Motion reference: S6M-02135
That the Parliament congratulates the hard work put into the approval of planning application to widen Shore Street in Ullapool, construct a promenade and build a shore quay; commends the Ullapool Harbour Trust, Transport Scotland and the Ullapool Promenade Group in formulating this project; notes that the development addresses concerns regarding traffic congestion to the Ullapool-Stornoway ferry port due to increased freight and tourism; acknowledges that the new promenade will be a mixed-use space for both pedestrians and cyclists; applauds efforts to make active travel a safer option; notes that accessibility to the beach will be improved by a ramp, and welcomes the new seawall’s efficiency in dispersing energy produced by waves in increasingly frequent storms.
