Talking Mats Wins 2021 National Health and Social Care Award

  • Submitted by: Dean Lockhart, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 12 November 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-02077

That the Parliament congratulates Stirling-based social enterprise, Talking Mats, on winning the 2021 National Health and Social Care Award at the Scottish Social Enterprise Awards; understands that Talking Mats is a social enterprise, which supports people with communication needs, and that it received the award following its work during the pandemic; further understands that the enterprise grew out of research at the University of Stirling and is a visual communication framework that gives people, who may have difficulty expressing themselves, time to think about and say what is important to them; notes that the National Health and Social Care Award recognises social enterprises that have an excellent vision, clear strategic direction and strong evidence of social and wellbeing impact; understands that winning the Scottish award means that Talking Mats will now progress as finalists for the 2021 Social Enterprise Awards, which are due to be held in December 2021, and wishes all involved in the social enterprise the very best of luck in those awards.
