#FreeNazanin

  • Submitted by: Michael Marra, North East Scotland, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 12 November 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-02052

That the Parliament supports Richard Ratcliffe in his campaigning for the safe return of his wife, Nazanin Zaghari-Ratcliffe, from Iranian detention; regrets that Richard has had to take drastic action in hunger-striking due to what it considers as the complete inaction of the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office; believes that Nazanin should be returned home to her family – her husband Richard and their daughter Gabriella – after more than five-years in Iranian detention, and notes the calls from Amnesty International, and others, for the UK Government to do everything in its power to bring Nazanin home, including calls to utilise the full diplomatic protection that she is believed to have been granted in 2019, asserting her right to consular assistance, and working with other affected states to address what it considers to be Iran’s arbitrary detention of a citizen with dual nationality.
