Dundee and Angus College’s Ambitious New Climate Target

  • Submitted by: Michael Marra, North East Scotland, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 05 November 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-01947

That the Parliament welcomes what it sees as Dundee and Angus College’s ambitious plan to achieve net zero in its building and energy supplies by 2030; understands that this will see it replacing all gas-fired technology with renewable sources, replacing all petrol and diesel vehicles with electric equivalents and the elimination of plastic waste by 2022; recognises that this will see a significant acceleration in the process with the date of 2030 beating the Scottish Government’s target by 10 years; believes that both the college and its Principal, Simon Hewitt, are showing leadership in this area, and is grateful for what it considers is the wider and vital contribution made by the further education sector in developing the skills and careers needed to face the climate crisis.
