Minga Indigena and Indigenous Communities at COP26

  • Submitted by: Ross Greer, West Scotland, Scottish Green Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 28 October 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-01811

That the Parliament welcomes the efforts made by Minga Indigena to bring the experience and knowledge of indigenous leaders to Scotland during COP26, as with previous UN climate conferences; recognises that indigenous communities play an important role as stewards of a high proportion of the planet's most important ecosystems; notes that many indigenous communities are on the front line of the climate crisis and already experiencing its gravest impacts; understands that efforts to find accommodation for indigenous leaders at COP26 have so far been unsuccessful, and urges anyone with suitable space to make contact with Minga Indigena as a matter of urgency.
