Bloomiehall Park Awarded First Green Flag

  • Submitted by: Gordon MacDonald, Edinburgh Pentlands, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 25 October 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-01734

That the Parliament welcomes the awarding of a record-breaking 38 Green Flags to parks in Edinburgh by Keep Scotland Beautiful, including an award for the first time to Bloomiehall Park in Juniper Green; understands that 35 of the parks are managed by the City of Edinburgh Council, and that only 77 flags were awarded across the country; further understands that Green Flags are awarded to parks that provide access to a safe, clean, and pleasant green space where people can relax, play, and exercise; considers that, despite the challenging times, the quality of Edinburgh’s parks continues to improve, and congratulates all staff, friends of parks and volunteers, whose hard work all year round, and in all weathers, made these awards well deserved.
