That the Parliament congratulates Food Train, whose Meal Makers project has won the prize in the Project of the Year category within the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland (the ALLIANCE’s) Self Management Awards 2021; notes that the project aims to support older people to live independently in their homes by pairing them with a local volunteer cook in their community to share food and friendship; recognises that many older people experience malnutrition and social isolation; understands that older people taking part in the Meals Maker project report substantial improvements to their wellbeing, including eating more and feeling less lonely, and commends the volunteer cooks who help provide this important service in their community.
