Cumbernauld-based AmcoGiffen Recognised at the Scottish Civil Engineering Awards

That the Parliament congratulates AmcoGiffen on being presented with the Small Project Award at the Scottish Civil Engineering Awards 2020-21; understands that the civil engineering contractor, which is based in Cumbernauld, refurbished the Leamington Lift Bridge on the Union Canal near the Lochrin Basin in Edinburgh; notes that the work was funded by Scottish Canals and Sustrans and involved carrying out essential structural repairs to bring the historic hydraulic lift bridge back to full working order; further notes that the intervention will allow the bridge to carry on operating as a key component of Scotland's National Cycle Network Route 75 and as part of the canal system affording passage to waterway users, cyclists and walkers; understands that the Scottish Civil Engineering Awards are jointly managed by the Civil Engineering Contractors Association Scotland and the Institution of Civil Engineers Scotland; believes that the event is premier showcase for engineering excellence in the built environment, celebrating innovation and the vital contribution that civil engineers make to designing, upgrading and maintaining the country's critical infrastructure, and commends the team at AmcoGiffen and its partners for receiving the award.
