  • Motion reference: S6M-01463

That the Parliament welcomes the decision by the Banff and Buchan Area Committee to unanimously agree to the transfer of Grampian House, 86-88 Commerce Street, Fraserburgh, to the Fraserburgh Sea Cadets; believes the Sea Cadets offer a huge amount to the local community of Fraserburgh for being an integral part of the town's history since its founding in 1943; notes that the Fraserburgh Sea Cadets are part of a long-established and national organisation that is designed to instil positive behaviours and educate young people in a range of skills associated with marine life; understands that the organisation has a track record of positive outcomes with male and female cadets, and it provides a solid base from which the young people can develop a well-balanced life where community service, discipline and responsibility are central to their work, social and leisure lives; wishes the cadets all the best for their new location, and congratulates Lt Cdr (SCC) Craig Trail RNR, Commanding Officer of the Fraserburgh Sea Cadets, for organising a successful transfer.
