Blue Peter Badges for St Ninian’s Pupils

  • Submitted by: Stuart McMillan, Greenock and Inverclyde, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 23 September 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-01336

That the Parliament congratulates P4 pupils from St Ninian’s Primary School in Gourock on earning a Blue Peter badge for their efforts to make their school more environmentally friendly; understands that pupils chose their Power, Plastic and Plants Pledges last year and have earned a special green badge for their hard work; recognises that the class encouraged fellow pupils, staff and families to cut down on their electricity usage, and planted seeds for sunflowers and lettuce; notes that the children also managed to encourage the school canteen to reduce its plastic waste; applauds the pupils on their enthusiasm to make a difference and hopes that they will continue to inspire themselves and others to be more climate conscious; thanks all the staff at St Ninian’s for supporting the pupils in this endeavour, especially their teacher, Colette Cavanagh, and wishes the school all the best as it continues to strive to be more eco-friendly.
