  • Motion reference: S6M-01316

That the Parliament congratulates The Ethical Dairy, which is based at Rainton Farm, Gatehouse of Fleet, near Castle Douglas, on being shortlisted at the prestigious Scottish Environment Business Awards 2021, known as the VIBES, during its Scotland Climate Week programme to raise awareness and build momentum ahead of COP26; congratulates the other 35 businesses from across Scotland that have received Good Practice Awards for their commitment to good environmental practice; recognises the enormous dedication and drive being demonstrated by the agroecological, organic business; understands that it is the first commercial dairy in the UK to be following the cow-with-calf method, and that it is now believed to be the largest of its kind in the world; welcomes its unique management system, which harnesses natural systems for ecological, biodiversity, sustainability and animal welfare gains; praises its initiative in becoming carbon-negative; acknowledges its philosophy in treating animals, the land, the environment and people who work there with respect and kindness, and hopes others take inspiration from the dairy's example of work and ethics.
