  • Motion reference: S6M-01299

That the Parliament congratulates the University of St Andrews after being named as the UK’s best university in The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide 2022; notes that this is the first time that neither the University of Oxford nor the University of Cambridge has held the top spot; further congratulates the University of Glasgow, University of Edinburgh, University of Strathclyde and University of Aberdeen for achieving a place in the Top 20; acknowledges that Scottish universities account for 12% of all the UK’s universities, but 20% of the top 20; recognises that these inclusions on the list follow one of the most challenging years for all levels of the education system due to the COVID-19 pandemic; wishes all Scottish universities the best for the year ahead and thanks them for embodying the world leading education that Scotland is renowned for across the globe.
