Forth Valley Health Team Shortlisted for Scottish Health Awards

  • Submitted by: Dean Lockhart, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 20 September 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-01249

That the Parliament congratulates the Forth Valley Primary Care Multidisciplinary Team on being shortlisted in the People’s Choice category in the Scottish Health Awards for 2021; understands that the multidisciplinary team involves a wide range of staff, including local GPs, hospital- and community-based pharmacists and care home staff from Strathcarron Hospice; notes that the team supported more than 2,000 vulnerable residents in accessing medicines in the area’s 66 care homes at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic; recognises that this was possible because of a system that allows GPs to prescribe in advance for extremely vulnerable residents at risk of severe illness due to COVID-19; understands that this new process was put in place within 72 hours and was supported by a training programme, new transport infrastructure and hubs to manage communications, and wishes the team the best of luck for the awards, which will be determined by a public vote.
