That the Parliament congratulates Maryhill Burgh Halls staff and volunteers for their successful project, A Flag for Maryhill; recognises that this included a year-long competition involving hundreds of individuals, local schools and community groups, who submitted designs; understands that entries were shortlisted down to five finalists by a panel of judges consisting of flag experts from the Flag Institute, the comedian, Jane Godley, and Still Game’s Jane McCarry; notes that the final five flags have been put to a public vote, with the winner to be unveiled during a Gala Day at Maryhill Burgh Halls on 2 October 2021; welcomes the support of the flag expert, Philip Tibbetts, the Lyon Vexillologist and Lord Lyon for the project; understands that the winning design will be added to the flags in the public register of All Arms and Bearings in Scotland; commends the efforts of Auroa Segnan, who has been invaluable in planning the gala day; looks forward to the Maryhill community gathering to enjoy live performers and music, vintage vehicles and various other activities and entertainment, and wishes everyone attending the gala a fun-filled day.
