  • Submitted by: Evelyn Tweed, Stirling, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 09 September 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-01096

That the Parliament recognises the significant role that Sir Walter Scott played in promoting Scottish tourism; commends the team at the Sir Walter Scott Steamship Trust for their stewardship of Stirling’s tourism heritage and popular attractions; notes the recent decision by the Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park to approve plans to develop a lookout tower and platform above the Trossachs Pier, as well as reinstate the Roderick Dhu path as part of the project; considers that it is fitting that the site on which Sir Walter Scott was inspired to write one of his most famous poems, Lady of the Lake, will continue to awe and inspire visitors from around the world, and showcase Scotland’s natural beauty and heritage for years to come, and congratulates all involved as they continue to improve their community and Stirling’s tourism industry.
