  • Date lodged: Monday, 06 September 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-01030

That the Parliament acknowledges what it considers the fantastic work of UK Armed Forces personnel during Operation Pitting; understands that they have provided security and resources to enable the evacuation of citizens from Kabul, Afghanistan, following the Taliban attack; further understands that, in under two weeks, UK Armed Forces in Kabul have successfully processed, checked, vetted and airlifted to safety 15,000 people, including more than 8,500 at-risk Afghans, via the Afghan Relocations and Assistance Policy (ARAP) scheme, which supports ex-Afghan staff who worked with the UK Armed Forces, and their families; wishes to send its sincere condolences to the 457 UK Armed Forces troops who have sadly lost their life in the line of duty; acknowledges the thousands currently injured, and wishes them every success in making a full and safe recovery.
