Raise a Glass to Celebrate Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight

  • Submitted by: Finlay Carson, Galloway and West Dumfries, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 06 September 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-01021

That the Parliament acknowledges that the Scottish Food & Drink Fortnight, an annual celebration of the nation’s larder, takes place from 4 to 19 September 2021, promoting the best that Scotland’s drink sector has to offer, from every corner of the country; recognises the struggles that many businesses faced during the COVID-19 pandemic; welcomes the enormous support from the Scottish public in supporting local producers, by encouraging them to rear, grow and manufacture a host of outstanding products on their own doorstep, and understands that many opportunities that lie ahead to launch community initiatives, aimed at expanding the network of regional food groups, particularly those embracing the net zero and climate change agenda, embrace the role played by the country's farmers, fishing businesses, producers, entrepreneurs, retailers and wholesalers in attracting consumers to choose Scotland-based food and drink products.
