Rachel Biggar's Charity Fundraiser in Memory of Her Dad

  • Submitted by: Finlay Carson, Galloway and West Dumfries, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 02 September 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-01008

That the Parliament congratulates Rachel Biggar on raising more than £16,000 for the Royal Scottish Agricultural Benevolent Institution, after embarking on a gruelling 100km running challenge in Greece, where she now lives, completing her fundraising effort, despite the 30 degree temperatures and humidity; understands that she undertook the task in memory of her father, Donald, a highly respected Dumfries and Galloway farmer, renowned for his Chapelton Herd and a stalwart of native British beef breeds, who was actively involved in many agricultural organisations including Royal Smithfield Club, Quality Meat Scotland, Scotland’s Rural College and WCF, and a long-time supporter of the RSABI, and who sadly passed away in January this year at his farm at Haugh of Urr; hopes many more people will contribute to Rachel’s online fundraising page before it closes in October, and wishes her well in future fundraising adventures and her valuable contribution to charity.
