  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 31 August 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-00958

That the Parliament welcomes a cash boost of £164,610 from Bank of Scotland (BoS) to Financial Fitness, which will enable the organisation to support hundreds of disabled people in Inverclyde; understands that the funds will be paid out over five years through BoS’s multi-year Invest programme and will be used to provide 400 disabled people from Inverclyde with vital welfare benefit and income maximisation advice; recognises that Financial Fitness, which is based in Greenock, is one of 11 Scottish charities to share in a total pay-out of £1.4 million between now and 2026; appreciates that the service will use the money to fund the salary of a full-time disability adviser and will provide tailored support relating to debt, budgeting and savings, and that the adviser will be able to refer clients with non-financial needs to appropriate services such as the local foodbank, occupational therapy or social work; commends the Financial Fitness team for the support they provide to people in Inverclyde, and wishes them all the best as they continue to offer advice and assistance to those who require support.
