Lochee United’s Ambition and Investment

  • Submitted by: Michael Marra, North East Scotland, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 19 August 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-00902

That the Parliament welcomes the ongoing development at Lochee United, Dundee, including a £100,000 investment in club facilities by McGill, a Dundee-based construction contractor, and refurbishment and fit-out specialist; understands that Lochee United was founded in 1892 and that this investment was made to celebrate McGill’s 40-year anniversary; believes that the investment, which includes the redevelopment of the changing rooms and a new website for the club, is designed to support the ambitions to advance in Scotland’s football pyramid; considers that the upgrade should help the club obtain an SFA licence and the hoped-for access to the Highland League, should the club be successful on the pitch, and wishes both McGill and Lochee United the very best for the years ahead as they pursue their ambitious plans.
