Gorebridge Hive a Hive of Activity

  • Submitted by: Christine Grahame, Midlothian South, Tweeddale and Lauderdale, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 05 August 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-00808

That the Parliament recognises the sterling work of Gorebridge Community Cares, chaired by the indefatigable Ellen Scott, which purchased the former Gorebridge Police Station with £226,000 funding from the Community Land Fund in December 2019; understands that the refurbishment brought work to the value of £100,000 to local businesses; notes that it is now open and provides facilities for support groups, plans to provide formal training in elementary food hygiene, as approved by the Royal Environmental Health Institute of Scotland (REHIS), and is growing some supplies in its own substantial greenhouse with many more activities planned for the local community; thanks all the trustees, staff and the volunteers who gave their time and skills for free, and wishes Gorebridge Cares at the Hive every success with its future plans.
