Duncan Scott's Olympic Success

  • Submitted by: Sharon Dowey, South Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 29 July 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-00780

That the Parliament recognises the achievements of Duncan Scott, who has won both a gold and silver medal for Team GB at the Tokyo Olympics; notes that Duncan was taught to swim in Troon by his father before joining South Ayrshire Swim Club; understands that Duncan became Scotland’s first Olympic medallist at this year’s games, claiming silver in a thrilling 200m Freestyle swimming event final at the Tokyo Aquatics Centre, setting a personal best and Scottish record time of 1:44:26; understands that Duncan’s silver medal win was the first time since 1908 that two male British swimmers have finished on the Olympic podium together, and wishes Duncan further success in his already impressive career.
