Heather Lindsay Raises Funds to Celebrate Anniversary of Life-saving Transplant and Promote Organ Donation

  • Submitted by: Stephanie Callaghan, Uddingston and Bellshill, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Monday, 26 July 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-00751

That the Parliament acknowledges Heather Lindsay, who is from Carfin, North Lanarkshire, and her family and friends, for walking 810 miles, the distance between Law Hospital, South Lanarkshire, and King's College Hospital, London, and back, to raise funds for the two hospitals that were instrumental in saving Heather’s life 30 years ago by coordinating and delivering a life-changing liver transplant; acknowledges the selfless acts of donors and their families across Scotland that are helping to save the lives of people like Heather every week, and, with more than 500 people each year waiting on a transplant, encourages more people in Scotland to discuss their decision to donate organs with their family, making it easier for them to honour that decision.
