Capsized Catamaran Crew Rescued off Cruden Bay

  • Submitted by: Liam Kerr, North East Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 20 July 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-00723

That the Parliament commends Peterhead RNLI’s volunteer lifeboat crew, who responded to a call on the afternoon of Saturday 17 July 2021, to assist two sailors whose catamaran had capsized off Cruden Bay in Aberdeenshire; understands that the casualties were being assisted by the crew of the NorthLink Ferry, MV Hrossey’s, fast response craft (FRC), which had launched to assist and had pulled one casualty from the water, while a small fishing vessel from Cruden Bay also responded and helped the other casualty; thanks all those involved in the rescue effort for their bravery and selflessness, and wishes the two sailors all the best.
