Babes in the Wood Funding Award

  • Submitted by: Dean Lockhart, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 14 July 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-00682

That the Parliament congratulates Babes in the Wood, which is based in Stirling, on securing £10,000 from National Lottery Community Fund grants; acknowledges that Babes in the Wood is a not-for-profit social enterprise that sells good quality, low cost children’s clothing that has been diverted from landfill to families in Stirling; understands that the funding will be utilised to bring on board a new member of staff from the local community, which will enable the social enterprise to accept more donations from the public; recognises the plans that the social enterprise has to create further volunteering opportunities for local residents in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic, with the aim of bringing the community together following the prolonged period of isolation and separation; notes that National Lottery Community Fund grants are aimed at supporting communities to reduce isolation and improve wellbeing as COVID-19 restrictions are eased, and wishes all those involved in this social enterprise the best of luck in the future.
