Recognising Colleges

  • Submitted by: James Dornan, Glasgow Cathcart, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 24 June 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-00493

That the Parliament recognises colleges as, it understands, the biggest delivery agent of modern apprenticeships, supporting over 11,000 students; notes that just under 20,000 people were enrolled in Flexible Workforce Development Fund programmes; understands that this £17 million fund allows employers to access training and development opportunities in colleges, and commends colleges for supporting the Young Person’s Guarantee and the National Transition Training Fund, which, it believes will play an important role in the rebuilding of the economy after the devastating effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.
