Jonny Roy Named Colin Wilson Mackie Coach of the Year

  • Submitted by: Stuart McMillan, Greenock and Inverclyde, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 18 June 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-00436

That the Parliament congratulates Jonny Roy from Greenock on being named the Colin Wilson Mackie Coach of the Year by Morton in the Community; understands that the 28-year-old health project worker has been working tirelessly during the COVID-19 pandemic and volunteered his time while on furlough to assist the lifeline mental health group, TeamTalk; notes that Jonny also works with schools, care homes and organises walking football sessions to support older members of the community looking to stay active; appreciates that the prize is awarded in memory of lifelong Morton fan, Colin Mackie, whose family donated money to the club after he passed away; believes that this award is a testament to Jonny’s dedication to helping people in Inverclyde stay active, no matter their age or fitness levels, and wishes him all the best for the future.
