Matthew Woodman Foundation Named Inverclyde Charity of the Year

  • Submitted by: Stuart McMillan, Greenock and Inverclyde, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 16 June 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-00413

That the Parliament congratulates the Matthew Woodman Foundation on being named charity organisation of the year at the recent Inverclyde Inspirational Awards; understands that the charity was set up by Kim Woodman from Greenock, following the death of her 20-month-old son, Matthew Woodman, from an undetected heart defect; recognises that in the last year, the charity has raised £13,000 for local and national causes, and has also teamed up with Glasgow Children’s Charity Hospital to provide life-changing support to other families; notes that the judging panel recognised Kim’s relentless drive to improve lives, as well as her work helping in the community during the COVID-19 pandemic; commends Kim and all those involved with the Matthew Woodman Foundation for all their efforts to fundraise and provide support to other families, with the charity hoping to organise a fundraising ball for later in the year, when restrictions allow, and hopes that the charity will continue to raise money for important causes.
