Royal Conservatoire of Scotland Ranked First in UK by Complete University Guide

  • Submitted by: Pam Duncan-Glancy, Glasgow, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 11 June 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-00346

That the Parliament congratulates the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland on being ranked the number one institution for studying Arts, Drama and Music in the UK by Complete University Guide; understands that this follows the Conservatoire being recognised as the number three institution in the world for performing arts education in the 2020 QS World University Rankings; recognises the challenges faced by the cultural sector throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the precarity facing many artists; believes, therefore, that more should be done to protect the creative industries, and considers this achievement by the Conservatoire to be a testament to its wonderful community of students and staff and their continued energy and passion for the arts throughout the most trying of times.
