Sam's Wellbeing on Wheels Rolled Out Across Fife

  • Submitted by: Alexander Stewart, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 08 June 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-00273

That the Parliament welcomes the news that the Fife-based mental health drop in service, Sam’s, has announced a series of wellbeing events set to take place across the Fife area in partnership with Stagecoach East Scotland; understands that the mental health service, which is provided by SAMH, hosts Sam’s Café drop-in sessions for anyone having problems with their mental health, including experiencing suicidal thoughts, and seeking support in Kirkcaldy, Dunfermline and Leven; believes that SAMH’s Peer Practitioners plan taking the service on the road to reach even more people and that, starting at Halbeath Park and Ride and arriving in a new community every day over the week beginning 14 June 2021, people will be able to stop by the Sam’s Wellbeing on Wheels bus in the same way they would at a normal Sam’s Café, with no appointment or referral is necessary; notes that peer support workers from SAMH have personal experience of mental ill health, and are trained and employed to help others; commends SAMH and Stagecoach East Scotland on their highly magnanimous work, and wishes everyone involved all the very best with this excellent initiative.
