Mairi McIntyre Awarded BEM

That the Parliament congratulates Mairi McIntyre on being presented with her British Empire Medal for services to the community of Wigtown; recognises the well-deserved honour for her inspiring work with a number of charity fundraising projects for more than 50 years, including engagements with the church, social clubs and care support groups, having been a proud member of the Coronation Day Centre in Stranraer since 2001 before becoming chairperson in 2012; notes that she continues to organise special events for centre users, including music concerts, baking and other creative activities, remains a valued member of Ervie-Kirkcolm Parish Church, where she is an elder, roll-keeper and organist performing at weddings and other special occasions, and continues to be an active member of the Women’s Rural Institute and Wigtownshire Ladies Bowling Association; wishes her good health in the coming years, and thanks her for her devotion to the local community.
