  • Submitted by: Pam Duncan-Glancy, Glasgow, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 01 June 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-00170

That the Parliament recognises the recent research carried out on behalf of Shelter Scotland, which reported that 1.5 million adults in Scotland are struggling with the condition, security, suitability or affordability of their home, or had been discriminated against while trying to find suitable accommodation; notes that over 130,000 felt they had been discriminated against as a result of their gender, sexual orientation, nationality, religion or disability; believes that, as well as homeless people, the housing emergency applies to many people living in their own physical homes and that an estimated 221,000 live in homes that have safety hazards; considers that the right to a safe, affordable and accessible home is something everyone should enjoy, and commends Shelter Scotland for its work highlighting the gravity of the situation.
