Milngavie BID, Business Walking Champion

  • Submitted by: Pam Gosal, West Scotland, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Thursday, 27 May 2021
  • Motion reference: S6M-00117

That this Parliament welcomes and congratulates the Milngavie BID on winning the Business Walking Champion category of the inaugural Scottish Walking Awards; considers that this award recognises that not only do more than 40,000 people from all over the world make their way to the town each year to embark on the 96-mile walk to Fort William, but that they take the time to walk through Milngavie’s thriving high street; recognises that walking has been crucial to the mental and physical wellbeing of locals during the COVID-19 lockdowns, and believes that this success is a testament to the hard work carried out by local businesses, the BID and local council.
