  • Motion reference: S6M-00018

That the Parliament welcomes the news that the Highlands and Islands will feature in the Responsible Research and Innovation Policy Experimentations for Energy Transition project (RIPEET) along with Extremadura, Spain, and Ostrobothnia, Finland; understands that the multinational research project will work with communities, businesses, academia, government, and the environmental sector to deliver sustainable energy solutions; notes that the project has secured funding worth €2 million from the Horizon 2020 initiative, the EU’s largest ever research and innovation programme; understands that Highlands and Islands Enterprise and Community Energy Scotland are partners in RIPEET; hopes that the project outcomes will contribute significantly to the Highlands and Islands' transition to low-carbon energy, and reiterates its commitment to Scotland becoming a net-zero society by 2045.
