Wishing Dave Gray a Happy Retirement

  • Submitted by: Liam McArthur, Orkney Islands, Scottish Liberal Democrats.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 17 March 2021
  • Motion reference: S5M-24414

That the Parliament congratulates Dave Gray on his imminent retirement as Senior Producer at Radio Orkney; understands that Dave made his debut at the station as a freelancer in 1990 where he presented the Friday night rock show, Metallic Gray, before securing a full-time role as a producer in 1994; acknowledges that he was appointed as Senior Producer in 2008 following the retirement of John Fergusson and since then has led a small team of journalists and presenters who deliver a range of features and programmes that enjoy a large and loyal following locally as well as internationally, exemplifying what local radio broadcasting is all about; looks forward to the much anticipated return of his rock show, Metallic Gray, on 2 April 2021, which will be a fitting send off for Dave on his last day in the job as he takes a trip down memory lane and reflects on his time at Radio Orkney; thanks Dave for his service and the contribution he has made to local radio over the years, and wishes him all the very best for a long and happy retirement, including the occasional return to the Radio Orkney studio from time to time.
