Scottish Apprenticeship Week, Build Your Future

  • Submitted by: Bruce Crawford, Stirling, Scottish National Party.
  • Date lodged: Tuesday, 23 February 2021
  • Motion reference: S5M-24209

That the Parliament celebrates Scottish Apprenticeship Week, which runs from 1 to 5 March 2021; welcomes the theme of Build Your Future and the opportunity for young people to access a suite of virtual career resources that provide insight into the built environment and construction industry; understands that the aims of the Build Your Future pilot, which is supported by Developing the Young Workforce Forth Valley, are to raise awareness of the variety of careers in the construction sector and how to access them, to enable young people to think about their subject choices and post-school pathways and make informed decisions, to address gender diversity and promote the industry as a changing landscape, and to support educators, parents and carers to understand how to support young people on their journeys; notes that the pilot is supported by over 40 industry partners, and encourages pupils, secondary schools educators, parents and carers across Scotland to engage with the virtual resources.
