  • Submitted by: Mark McDonald, Aberdeen Donside, Independent.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 19 February 2021
  • Motion reference: S5M-24180

That the Parliament welcomes the £100,000 donation that has been pledged by the Aberdeen-based charity, Friends of ANCHOR, to the University of Aberdeen towards pioneering cancer research; understands that this will help will fund seven new studies in 2021, supporting research work on leukaemia and lymphoma, lung, breast and oral cancers and a study into the treatment of neutropenic sepsis, which people receiving chemotherapy are more susceptible to; highlights the imminent launch of Rally for Research, which is the third instalment of the charity's campaign, Going the Distance; notes that this invites people of all ages, abilities and fitness levels to walk, run, cycle, skate, swim, row or even scoot to support the charity’s commitment to research, and applauds Friends of ANCHOR on its fundraising efforts as it enters its second decade of supporting cancer research in the north east.
