Ernie Holmes

  • Submitted by: Murdo Fraser, Mid Scotland and Fife, Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party.
  • Date lodged: Friday, 29 January 2021
  • Motion reference: S5M-24010

That the Parliament congratulates the former Lancaster pilot, Ernie Holmes, on his 100th birthday; notes that Ernie survived being shot down during a bombing raid in 1944, and was then rescued and sheltered by a Dutch family; further notes that he worked as a civilian instructor with the Royal Air Force until blindness sadly cut short his career, and wishes him well as he enjoys his 100th birthday in a retirement home in Perth.
