SCIAF's Wee Box, Big Change Lent Appeal 2021

  • Submitted by: James Kelly, Glasgow, Scottish Labour.
  • Date lodged: Wednesday, 27 January 2021
  • Motion reference: S5M-23984

That the Parliament supports the Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund’s (SCIAF) Wee Box, Big Change Lent Appeal; understands that the 2021 appeal aims to support disabled children in South Sudan who are locked out of education and trapped in a cycle of poverty; notes that the appeal encourages people to put the money they would have spent on the items they have given up for lent into a SCIAF Wee Box to donate to the charity; recognises that the money raised is used to support people in developing countries out of poverty; acknowledges that the UK Government will match any donation received before 11 May 2021, and encourages MSPs to promote the appeal to their constituents.
